Okay. So most of the time when I read these boards and people are talking about breeding.. I get agitated. Most people are breeding just to breed wajas so they can breed more and more and more.
The point of Wajas is markings and stats- NOT to see how many wajas you can get.
One of the first things I did when I joined wajas was figure out what my point was when I bred. What did I want to produce? What markings did I like? I decided finally on a "half-sabre" as every calls it. Basically, I love Back and Belly Spots with Bird Wings, a Mane, and Leg Feathering.
Okay. So- You have figured out what you want to breed. Now, you're.. pretty poor, and you are pretty desperate for a Waja. So.. you go out and get a newbie waja- great! You now have a waja that may resemble this one:
You want to breed- to increase your cave and the possibilities of course! But.. how do you know who to breed to?
Thats right, those numbers on your Wajas page aren't there just for looks. Infact, theres alot more to it than that! These numbers will come in later when chosing your male, for now Ill just help you understand them.
This girl has-
Appa: 1
Hlf Be: 1
Husky: 1
SSE: 5
So what does that all mean? Well, the numbers tell how visable something will be. Appa, Half Belly, and Husky are all at 1- you can varily see them on her (if at all). SSE Is at 5, you can see it but it is slightly faded.
Markings and Mutations are.. totally different. Mutations are alot easier to deal with than Markings- aswell.
Our girl has the following mutations-
Bird Wings: Carrier
Leg Feathers: Carrier
So what does that mean? Well first of all, if your Waja has "yes" under the mutation name, they show that mutation (Im sure you know this). If it has "no" they dont show it- and cannot pass it on. If the waja has Carrier, they can pass that trait on depending on who the waja is bred with.
Carrier x Carrier = Carrier or Yes
Yes x No = Carrier
Yes x Yes = Yes
Yes x Carrier = Yes (possible Carrier)
MU, MG, LQ, and In%. They all are rather confusing- yes? What do they mean? How do they affect breedings?
MU -> Mutation -> The higher the percent, the more likely your waja will pass on the mutation.
That means if your waja is a carrier, breeding with a carrier, it will be more likely to have a Yes pup if this number is anywhere about 50%.
MG -> Male Gene -> Likelyhood your waja will have a male pup. When wajas first started, males were rare. All wajas are nearly quarenteed to produce female pups unless this is over 50%.
LQ -> Litter Quality -> How many pups will be born! The higher the number, the more pups. I do believe 50% is where the chance of pups becomes high.
For the record, our girl has these stats-
MU: 20
MG: 1
LQ: 10
In%: 0
If you have a Love Pear, and are confident about the cash in your pocket, then its time to look for a stud! Now.. dont go breed to the cheapest thing you can find.. that's not the point of wajas now is it?
So.. what should you look for if your waja carries a ton of things?
- Well. Look for what you like. The markings, look for whatever has the largest number mixed with whatever mutation you like.
For example, Our female has SSE of 5, carries Bird Wings and Leg Feathers. So in our stud search, I put SSE of atleast 5, Bird Wings, and Leg Feathering- Then I look through the males. Look at colors aswell, you dont want a vomit green pup do you?
No! Now you have to look at other important factors. Color, of course. And what he carries, shows, the numbers, everything! Match up as much stuff as you can with your female. Its okay if he doesnt have everything she has, or vice versa. Just make sure to get the main things. Now.. remember when I mentioned all those confusing percents? Lets put them into play...
For a reminder, these are our girls Percents..
MU: 20
MG: 1
LQ: 10
In%: 0
And the Male's percents...
MU: 83
MG: 38
LQ: 28
In%: 0
So.. As you can see he has some rather.. large.. numbers. What does that mean for our pup?
The pup is almost guaranteed the mutations his mother and father have, the father gives it that. There is a slight possibility for a male, but a female is almost ensured. And twins are rather unlikely.
Lineage. The one thing that can effect the pup the most.
Look at the lineage, the parents, the grandparents, even the great-grandparents. If any of the wajas on the males lineage match the females, do not breed them. Your pup will get an inbred percent, and that is frowned upon in Wajas Society.
Now then, the male I have "chosen" is not related to our female. So what do I do now?
I know, it seems like that. But you want the best possible pup- right?
Now then, check the males page. If the price is $1; its probably lowered for a Reserved Breeding or a friend. If youre not sure if the price is right, message the owner and ask. Be kind and considerate- make sure to tell them /which/ waja you are asking about.
Yes. If everything works out- then you can now, finally, Breed your Wajas!
Thats right, the stud owner has every right to /decline/ your request. If this happens, don't fret! Simply go through the whole proccess and find another male.
Pups can take up to 5 days to be born. Your wajas page will tell you when the pup is due. Once born, it will take 12 days before you can see what your waja will look like. At age 20, it will be able to breed.
To many people, generations are important. The higher the generation, the more likely the waja will be inbred. So.. what does this mean to you? Well.. most importantly it means you have to be more careful when choosing males.
A Generation 6 male mated to a Generation 2 female will produce a Generation 7 pup. Not Generation 3.
