Sophomore? I understand its a year in College, but what age would you be? And whats the other names for the other years in College? And what ages are they? And what age do you start College? And what goes before College.. or after College?
I dont mean to sound.. dumb? I've lived in England, Australia and New Zealand and the years and such are all completley different.
Like in England its just Primary and Secondary School and Uni. And In Australia its School, High School, College and Uni. And In New Zealand its usually Primary, Intermediate, College and Uni?
Im guessing a sophomore in College is a last year at Uni? Ooosh....

You forgot college in England. You can go to college straight after school when you're sixteen then to uni or stay on at school do A levels and then go to uni.

I guess it depends on the country. But in the U.S.: I understand its a year in College, but what age would you be? Usually 19-20, but you don't have to be. Sophomore just means it's your second year in college) And whats the other names for the other years in College? And what ages are they? Freshman (18-19), Sophomore (19-20), Junior (20-21), Senior (21-22) And what age do you start College? Usually 18 And what goes before College.. or after College? High school is before college. Here college is just another word for university. After, if you want a higher degree, you can become a graduate student or go to a professional school (medical, law, etc.)

In the USA, high school also has the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years. Again, same: freshmen=1st year, sophomore 2nd... and so on.

What's fourth??? Ooh wait... do you only have the three grades for high school? My high school used to have a 9th grade center and then the other three in a separate building.

i think it varies from school to school, but in the US it's mainly that^
here in brasil it's just 1st year, 2nd year and third year, and there are only 3 years(:

In Ireland it's really different! yours all sound so confusing! You do 8 years in primary school(junior(baby) infants, senior(big) infants, 1st, 2nd till 6th)
The after that when your about 12 you start in secondary school for 6 years. you do you junior cert in 3rd year(it's a pretty pointless exam) and you can leave when your 16 but not do. 4th year is optional in some schools(you go straight to 5th) and in 6th year, at about 18 you do your leaving cert which is big exam which kinda determines your life.
Then you start college or university. you do a degree or diploma or PLC(post leaving cert course, make up artists and childcare etc) or an aprentiship. we don't use the names of the years but i know they have a "Fresher's Week" at the start of the year in college.
