I usually check back once in a while on this site, but I never truly stayed because of one reason;
PEOPLE CANNOT POSE THEIR DOGZ.
It may not seem like a big deal, but people are using ****py images in quality for their dogs and overall they are not even bloody poses! Like, dear lord, will somebody educate most of the active showing members on here about it?!
Sorry if I seem really awkward about this, but I am getting sick and tired of seeing dogz have any points at all for their horrible poses (if they even are posing!) and I really want to help out the judges and showers to learn more about it.
With a good judge, like those on RKC, most of these dogz would not place just because the images are JPG (they are horrible + hard to judge) or untextured petz. They would also have to posing and/or ALIGNED DAMNIT to actually place at all.
If anybody wants to add, feel free to. Do not harass me about how hard it is posing your petz BECAUSE I KNOW. I did once show my dogz but I am mostly a judge and provide active critisism for poses on RKC Petz Forum, where people have been judging shows for quite a long time (and well) and yeah.
I am not saying all judges on here are bad, but I am amazed how these dogz are getting 60 or 30 points with horrible poses. Like, really.
If you would like some guides to showing to help you improve a lot, I can recommend and directly link some here for you so that you can actually pose your dogz properly and not just put in horrid photos.

umm... it's called being new to showing.
most of the people that are on this forum anymore are either noobs to the pc, & don't know how to show, or even how showing works; or they're old members that don't really play petz anymore.
seriously, everyone has to start somewhere. be understanding of the newer members that haven't gotten the hang of showing yet.

wow, its for the fun of the game, not a flashy "i'm better then you" contest.. I think I need the windex, because I just spit my water all over the screen at how rude you are. And I am not going to harass you about it, but it is dang hard to pose. K I don't spend 4 hours on poses. nope, who would do that >.> *saracasm* See the thing is, if you want to b!tch, do it to a friend and someone who cares. because these people TRY there hardest to do what they do! and they place because its called BEING NICE. which apparently you don't know how to do.
Seriously, why do so many complain about things in the PC? WHY?! it is supposed to be F U N, fun!

I can understand that they are new to posing/showing, but they shouldn't be placing with poses that aren't even poses! But you do have a point Ink & Jesi, because they are new and I obviously should not really complain but I'm just more used to actually seeing actual poses place in shows etc. But, all I can do is really just run a ton of shows and help improve the public's view on what true poses actually are. And placing horrible poses is not being nice Ink, just so you know. It's pointless. Is telling people the truth rude? Like, honestly. I would never place a JPG or a unaligned pose in any of my shows because, it's stupid. It's like, an unwritten rule when I judge that if your dog is unaligned or not even posing, you would never place in my show.

Okay you both have valid points, however..
1. I don't see a problem with jpgs, especially if the person didn't save them as such. If you just upload them straight as a bmp, the quality doesn't change, just the tag. The only time they would be an issue in that case is if you're trying to make an award. And really, it's not that hard to get around either.
2. I agree with the fact that if the animal isn't posing at all, it shouldn't be placed. I most certainly wouldn't place them either and more than likely DQ them from my show.
3. New people can always ask for help, it's what a good majority of people do and then they can get the help they need.

i agree with artemis.
the showers can see proper posing with the other peoples entries.
& the judges need to judge correctly. i remember having a nice-posing dog and a really bad posing dog would win. alot of the problem is judges judging wrong, so the showers think they're dog poses correctly.

I agree with Artemis, and everyone else. I agree that they are new. Yes, they don't have much experience. BUT that's NOT what Artemis is saying! I think that the point is these dogs are getting points for unaligned poses or just unposed dogs. And Ink, Artemis wasn't the only one being rude here. No offense - and I acknowledge that Artemis could have been gentler. Speaking of bad posing... Would you mind critiquing my posing dogs for me? I'm an old member who hasn't learned how to pose yet - which is really stupid, I know - and I have a feeling that they need a lot of work.

I hate JPGs because the quality is blurred & it becomes harder to judge the dogs. I disqualify any dogs in my shows that have JPGs because they are just atrocious xD PNGs are what I use, but GIFs are smaller file sizes and is what I recommend to people. Thank you Selena, Katie & Yesterday ;] I can admit I was in a bad mood that day so my post was not as gentle as it could've been, so I am sorry about that, but I'm not wrong xD But most new showers never ask for help because they think that they are posing their dogs correctly. Sometimes, I politely talk to them through PM if they constantly do this and they appreciate my help for that (and I do not sound rude when I do it btw) so yeah. Yesterday, I'd love to help you pose your dogs ;] From what I saw, you were a lot better then some of the others in terms of alignment so you can give me a PM and I'll do what I can =D

With a good judge, like those on RKC, most of these dogz would not place just because the images are JPG I am mostly a judge and provide active critisism for poses on RKC Petz Forum, where people have been judging shows for quite a long time (and well) and yeah. Take into consideration that APKC appeals to a younger target audience and generally has a more lenient approach to showing (as opposed to forums dedicated to the quality of poses and their image extensions to boot, for example). While showing has general standards, it has just as many compliancies depending on where you go and how seriously you take it. So a grossly inactive forum playing host to the vast majority of the community's 11-12yr olds is not going to regard showing as critically as somewhere like RKC. I think posting beneficial links would've sufficed, really.

Wow, late, but ... With a good judge, like those on RKC, most of these dogz would not place just because the images are JPG I am mostly a judge and provide active critisism for poses on RKC Petz Forum, where people have been judging shows for quite a long time (and well) and yeah. I think posting beneficial links would've sufficed, really. As a ProBoards forum, under-13s should NOT be allowed in here, whether it's for showing or not. That is a TOS violation and could get this board -removed- -- permanently. I would suggest to the mods and the admins of this forum (wherever and whoever they are) that they keep a closer eye on their community; there really is no reason for 11 and 12 yr olds to be here, and by joining the community whilst underage, they are putting APKC at risk. There really is no reason for bad poses and judges to be around. Every shower, 13 or above should be able to pose their petz. If they find it "too hard" then they shouldn't be showing their petz. Simple as. If they are underage then they should not be here. On the contrary if a shower wants to improve, then that's fantastic, and I would very much encourage it. There are always guides and kind people around ready to give help. However, just saying that people are too young is not good enough, and if it's true, I would hope to God that the Support team do not drop by for a visit.

I totally agree artemis. If you can't pose your dogz, either keep trying 'till you get something half decent or just don't show 'em! I can't pose my babies worth beans, so do you see me showing? noooo! D:

Same here Smoof. I always take several pics before I show 'em, and often post them up beforehand to get comments.

I've seen new members on here asking for help with showing and poses though, so obviously people are trying so please be a bit nicer about it. I HATE when people are so damn mean about this stuff. But here my issues with this:
1. No, people should not get points if their dogz poses are really that bad (severely unaligned, eyes wide open, over-posing, in between poses...etc)
2. Don't complain if your dog didn't place. It's not a big deal. Get over it, seriously. New & Old members.
3. Please, all you people new to showing, read the show guides on here AND look at the older peoples poses BEFORE showing. If you are still confused about anything than post a thread about it to ask questions.
I think we really need a board on here for like posing critique. On RKC you can post pictures of your petz poses before you show them and receive constructive criticism and help. BUT since we don't have a board like that on here maybe just posting that in this section would be ok for now.
I'm not new to the petz community and I know I need help sometimes and that doesn't just go for posing.

But even when your like 10 you can figure out how to pose a dog. But still just so you all know, yes, there are a lot of younder kids on here.

I Understand That You Get Annoyed. So Do I When I See Dogz That Are Severly Mis-Aligned. But Alot Of People, Me Included, Like To Actually Play The Game And Show On The Side. Also, The Showing Poses Are Very Strict And Only The Best Of The Best Can Actually Get The Perfect Show Pose. For Example, Eyelids. Some times you get a picture where the dog is posing nicely, but the eyelids aren't showing, or they are slanted. Should this really effect the dogs placing in a show ? </rant>
