I completely agree with random. . I hope he does not die, only because then he must live with the stroke he had, and the suffering that comes with it, and I think that will be enough to teach him SOMTHING. Good kitty.

I heard he is getting better. He gave them a thumbs up when they asked him how he was. But he is still in critical condition but is improving. He raised the tiger who attacked him in his own apartment for 2 years. They found a 6 foot alligator in his apartment. So now he is facing some sort of charges.

It must have been. Roy lives with Sigfried in a 200 million dollar mansion thats a haven for around 200 white tigers.

Heh, if you work with wild animals, do you expect them to kiss and cuddle you?

His partner was on Oprah and he said the tiger didn't attack him. The tiger sensed fear and draged him off stage. Because if the tiger wanted to attack him he wouldn't have let him live nor would he have let him go.

His partner was on Oprah and he said the tiger didn't attack him. The tiger sensed fear and draged him off stage. Because if the tiger wanted to attack him he wouldn't have let him live nor would he have let him go. Er... no. They used that as a very convenient cover story, but frankly, the fashion of the bites and the behavior evaluated by several ethologists confirmed that it was most definately attack behavior. The tiger had been approaching the audience, and he stepped in front of it do divert its attention, whereupon it grabbed his forearm, then attacked when he corrected it. And, since this happened, a whole great deal of information about AWA and USDA violations by Sig. and Roy have come out, as well as more information about the company that used to support thier act. I'm blanking on the name off the top of my head, but it supplied some of thier animals, and recently had a tiger overheat to death in a truck trailer due to negligence. In short, despite the nice habitats they had for thier animals, they were doing unethical things by having a breeding program that did nothing for species survival, keeping the animals like pets instead of respecting them as wild animals, and forcing them to perform. Despite thier claims to be breeding to save the "rare white tiger," any person with some education can see through it. "White tigers" are not even a species; they are a color mutation linked to many genetic ailments, and no reputable species survival plan program supports breeding them. I do not doubt that Sig. and Roy loved big cats very much so, but they misdirected that love; if you truly love and respect a wild animal, you do not support breeding them gratuitously (ie. for pets or personal ownership) in a captive environment, where thier needs can never be fully fufilled, even by the best funded zoos in the nation. They had nice habitats with Sigfried and Roy, but is anything ever going to compare to having an expansive, several mile territory in the wilderness? Probably not. These are not domesticated animals; they are captive bred wild animals - animals with all of the urges and instincts of a big cat living wild. They were not bred over hundreds of years to interact with and depend on man; they are not content caged, do not respond well to environments domestic animals can handle, and have a powerful drive to hunt, mate, and fight. Anyone who loves a wild animal understands this, and realizes they are better off in thier natural habitat. Yes, I am aware that the cats they owned could never be releaseable; what I am saying is, they shouldn't have bred or bought them to begin with, and certainly not used them to make money via the stressful world of performance. They have retired, at any rate, and are doing thier best to live out thier lives despite ongoing run-ins with federal officials over animal welfare act violations. They probably won't be condemning any more cats to captive life any time soon, and everything about the case was pretty well cleared years ago. Seriously though, why the hell is this old-ass topic being dragged up? This was 2003. I'm just responding for the sake of being tired and argumentative, but really, it should probably be locked or removed by now, no? Could mods maybe throw this in storage? Its so old, and it always leads to really stupid arguments.

I belive this is extremely old. I remember hearing this story ages ago. Please try not to bring up old threads! Most of the people who posted here have left!
