Just a few days ago, Roy of Sigfriend and Roy, a duo who does magic acts combined with tiger tricks, was mauled by a 6 year old white tiger. The tiger latched onto his arm before dragging him into the ground, grabbing him by the throat, and pulling him away offstage. Roy is in critical condition, having suffered severe blood loss as a result of his wounds.
Although it is a shame that Roy has been injured, I hope this will teach Sigfried and Roy an important lesson: tigers should never be kept as pets or for entertainment. They are wild animals, unsafe for ownership, who deserve to live wild and free, not being carted around and forced to preform demeaning stunts on the Las Vegas strip. Sigfried and Roy have long bred tigers claiming to have a "conservation" goal, however, the animals they breed will never return to the wild or live in a reputable zoo, rather they are kept as pets or as part of circuses and magic acts. Many have likely suffered cruel treatment or at the very least have had to endure the misery of captivity. In addition, white tigers, which are very frequently bred by the preformers, are known to have many genectic problems and are therefore counter productive to forming a stable, healthy, captive breeding population for conservation of the species.
So, hope that Roy makes a speedy recovery, but remember: wild animals belong in the wild; there is NO justification for their use as entertainment and pets. Boycott performences and circuses that use animals, never buy wild animals as pets, and do your research before patronizing zoos.

I don't care what happens to him. Actually I hope he dies. I know that's not nice but as long as they don't put the tiger to sleep for attacking him I will be happy. To me Roy and his partner are just as bad as circuses. Maybe the tiger attacked because they abuse them. Maybe but they seem to care about the tigers. I stil don't support them though.

I don't wish death upon people even if they are assholes. I have found that many people who mistreat animals do so out of ignorance. Hopefully this experience will "enlighten" him a bit. Rather than him dying, I'd prefer to see them stop preforming and stop breeding tigers.

I wish death upon some animal abusers because they don't learn and they don't stop abuseing. But maybe death is what he get for taking tigers fom the wild or something.

All I have to say about animal abusers never changing is this: Howard Lynman, who is a devouted animal rights activist, head of a vegan outreach, and a marvelous public speaker on the behalf of animals, used to be a factory farmer. His animals were tortured and killed just so he could make money, however, he realized the errors of his ways and turned things around. Most people contribute to animal cruelty in some way, and many will try to reform upon realizing it. Others are terrifically ignorant, depraved assholes who may never learn and may end up dead from a mauling. However, there are reasons why people are cruel. I guess unless you have been around people from the meat, circus, dogfighting, etc. industries, you wouldn't realize that most of them don't even realize what they are doing is wrong because they were never taught or informed otherwise. So, before signing the death order to anyone who does something cruel, you have to think from their point of view. And, if they are just truly assholes, then they will get theirs some day ;-)

I think elephants should stomp some people I saw on a film on Animal Planet how they *break* them and i think it is sick.
Most people who own those types of animals treat them badly and should not be able to own them.

Nope.. Gollum is based on a human. The actor who played Gollum had to move just like Gollum.. Then they would use the computer to make Gollum. Gollum is all computer-made.. Kind of cool

If he lives it will be a bigger burden, remembering what he did to the poor thing if it gets put to sleep. so if he lives its worse.
i agree with RW.

Now now, we can't go "bashing" all of the circuses.. SOME but a slim few do take care of their "tendants". I think the only Circus show I'll ever go to is Ringling Bros. *sighs* 0.o I mean it's not everyday in your life you got to met the world's largest elephant, pat it and even hang out with the staff. GOD it rocked to be five x__x Anyway.. "King Tusk" as he was called was indeed the world's largest Elephant until his passed which was along time ago. o.o; two shows after I got to see him honestly which sucked cause I wanted to see him again. *coughs still has her plushie of him and the Show pamplet, book and a few other things from the show* le sigh. But yes Sig & Roy might finally learn their lesson and leave the tigers and other wild creatures ALONE. I could have sworn they got in trouble awhile back for trying to Transport one of their tigers on a plane or something. That was a sign. Guess they didn't see it.
Tiger must have been thinking.. Roy Buger at the time. If they said it was suppose to be for conservation damnit to hell they should have released them back into the wild or AT LEAST gave them to a well Deserving Zoo that cares for them. Sad though.. Half way around the world the world's only Albino Gorillia is dying of Skin Cancer... Damned Humans... Why can't we learn to leave the wild alone. To Admire it from its natural setting and not behind BARS or SHOWS or even Glass. *grumbles*I won't wish death upon Roy.. some of their "tricks" was worth the watching.. just the whole animal bit..should have been dropped long time ago.
I write.. too much or Type.. however one takes it.

Well you know it's no every day an animal abuser gets what he deserves. Most the time nothing happens to animal abusers. Maybe a small fine, a little jail sentnce, or maybe even you can't own a dog. Maybe this will teach people a lesson if he dies or even if h doesn't die. But I still wouldn't be to upset to see him die.
They are not better. Even if they don't abuse they stil took those poor animals from the circus and taught them to do stupid tricks. They deserve to live wild not live a humane life. Besides I think I read something on how they mistreated there animals. I can't stand to watch animals preform because you look into their eyes and you see nothing. On tv when they record tigrs in the wild and such when you look into their eyes you see spirit, pride, and hope. Circuses disgust me.
But animals trained for movies are fine. Like that one bear guy who trained Archie in Doctor Dolittle. Their bears where abondoned by their mothers and need homes. And their are outside living like bears should. Their enviroment are natural they have a good diet they are treated with respect. And they still look wild. Plus they really love their bears. Animals for movies are treated so much better because the handlers love the animals they are working with and they want to learn about them and understand them. They have the patients to train them unlike circuses who don't have the time so they abuse them.
That's the main reason I won't go to circuses. They beat all the spirit out of them.
You know what would be even better? To the elephant in the wild where he belongs. Or atleast in a sancuary where people can see him. But he deserves so much better than a circus. Just because he's rare means he has to go live at disgusting circus and be abused to perform.

Ringling Bros treating its animals well? You've got to be ****ting me, right? Have you ever read their USDA and AWA record? Full of violations - they may be better funded but they still abuse and cruelly confine, neglect, and mistreat their animals. There is even video evidence of it. Check out the links below for some info, the 2nd one has lots of info from the usda. www.circuses.com/ringling.htmlwww.circuses.com/ringlingfactsheet.htmlAnd, regardless of how the animals are treated, wild animals should NOT be held captive, especially for entertainment purposes. Captive wild animals in circuses are routinely abused to keep them "in line" - there is no such thing as a truly compassionate circus animal trainer. They live most of their lives in trailers and tiny cages, or dull, concrete holding enclosures during the off season. Most are cruelly beaten into submission - have you ever seen the "breaking" of a bear, tiger, or elephant? It is enough to make you sick. In addition to being forced into doing ridiculous tricks, the animals are deprived of every possible instinct. Most die young from poor health as a result of this, as well as poor diet and maintenance. Wild animals are also dangerous. If you look around that site a bit more, you will find pages of data about human deaths caused by captive wild animals, usually by mauling or crushing. Many of the victims were children. Wild animals also carry dangerous diseases; elephant are a known vector of TB, and many life threatening diseases are transmitted by a wide variety of animals, ranging from primates to big cats right down to prarie dogs. NEVER PATRONIZE ANIMAL CIRCUSES. There are a growing number of circuses that use only human performers. Support these acts instead; they are humane, interesting, and tend to be more worth your money.

Pffffffffft *sticks her tongue out at them* I NEVER said Ringling Bros treated their animals well now did I? I said SOME Circuses See see that's what ya get from not reading between the lines. Now reguards of the fines and violations people.. I'm still going to see Ringling Bros's shows. I don't have much of a choice when it comes to 5 year olds and a 3 year old. Now I might be able to con one of the olders kids OUT of a circus with the promise of something else. Like o.o; The Mall or a toy store. The little Tykes is another store.. They want Zoo and Circus by all means.. Drea here gives them Circus and Zoo cause their parents -.-; refuse to take them out or shove them aside because they're "too Busy" and it's their day off. *grumbles* I went to the Zoo 3 times in two weeks. once with my sis and little 3 year old god sister, the second time was with the little cousins and the last time.. I just went to see the animals and how they were doing even though the first time around some KID got on my last nerve. Everytime I turned around he was there blabbing away about the animals, their Scientific name.. everything. Smart Kid I will admit but he needed to SHUT UP.. he was ruining the Zoo for the other kids.
